I have always been very fond of Ganeshji-Ganu is what I call him. Many Indian and some of the international people have kept Ganeshji idol in various form of photographs, statues, memories, etc. He is actually the most beloved God of India. Being the icon of luck, remover of obstacles, you will always see Indian homes having at least one idol of Ganu in house.
Today is the arrival & celebration of Ganeshji in India. I m sharing some of my favorite photographs of 10-day celebration in India.
I plan to cover some of the celebration & Pandals in Mumbai along with Visarjan procession in India.
More than 7000 people gathered to welcome this friend. It draws yearly more than 1 million people to this pandal. The pandal is decorated enough to ensure your attention is drawn towards Ganu no matter the maddening crowd.
Indian Hindu Devotee swim with an idol of Lord Ganesha. This year many Pandal have gone eco-friendly with Ganpati idol, where the fishes can survive in the water .
Some years back the Ganesh Idol were made from plaster of paris. A lot of abandon idols lie around the area, where devotee in the celebration do miss to see them from previous year. I believe quite a lot has changed in 2105 where famous pandal have gone organic. In Mumbai more than 1,00000 idols are immersed every year.
As some of the artisans said, that it takes more than 1 month to make one Ganesh Idol. Here a lady give finishing touches to Ganesh Idol.
Devotees carry an idol of the Hindu elephant god Ganesh for immersion into the Arabian Sea on the last day of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
As the Ganesh is brought to the Pandal, there is Maha Arti done where the celebration is huge and grand . A must see if you are around Ganesh Chaturthi .
Hope you enjoyed my favorite photo collection from Ganesh Chaturthi of all time. I plan to do a photo story of Visarjan this year. Hope I can make it through the maddening crowd.
