Sheroes Session III- Powering Life – My way
Interesting Panels here:
Jagat Rathore
Keya Rathore
Sangeeta Singh
“One of the most courageous thing a woman can do is to identify herself, know who she is, what she believes in & where she wants to go” said Sangeeta Singh. Her idea speaks volumes about the importance of branding and positioning to make one visible.
India has more female doctors, surgeons, professors & scientists than USA. Every woman in our life is an incredible example of why we should respect strength and not power. The Sheroes Summit Bangalore reminded all of us something similar.
After a lot of learning and a great lunch, we all needed some activity to keep us motivated to learn more. The session of Jagat and Keya Rathore made us all very indefatigable and question ourselves “Do we have a powerful mind or powerful strength? For Jagat Rathore, his mother and grandmother has been a Sheroe.
And as per Keya, there is no difference between mathematical abilities of men & women said by Keya Rathore. Success is tied up with your beliefs. Keep them strong and ON. Golden words indeed…
“India has the world’s largest number of professionally qualified women” exclaimed Jagat Rathore proudly.
Jagat and Keya started an interactive activity soon after. The activity was an exercise to discuss negative beliefs of each other which they could overcome with. Later, Jagat challenged all the Sheroes sitting in front to break a wooden plank just as he did; and the audience started hooting for his powerful act.
It was amazing to see four courageous women getting up from their seat, walking up to the stage and accepting Jagat’s challenge to break the wooden plank.
All of them after a little warm up were able to break the plank with a set mind and encouragement.
There was one among the four who couldn’t break the plan even after the warm-up which made her feel conscious. “Will they laugh at me?” this is the biggest fear that people have in mind, pointed out Jagat. One needs to overcome this fear in mind and say – “I can do it!”
And there was a loud sound “Thaadh!”; and the plank broke into pieces. The lady rejoiced and Jagat asked her about her experience, why she couldn’t break the plank in one go? To that she said that she was conscious; but when Jagat made her feel there is none, she went on to hit the plank with more power and ultimately broke it.
Moral of the activity- Sometimes, you need to believe in yourself more than the power of your mind.
Sheroes Session IV- OpportunityScape – Emerging Partners
Harshal Shah- Director Marketing, Aegon Religare
Monisha Chadha, Director, COE Rewards and Lead D & I Philips, India
Rekha Ranganathan, Senior Director, Marketing, Stratergy and Oncology, Philips Healthcare India
Prashant Bhaskar, CEO, Founder, Plug HR
Dushyant Saraswat, PayTM
This session I’m going to summarize in total learning received from all the above speakers. There is a research which says, written goals are more achievable, so write down your goals every day. That’s what these speakers emphasized on.
Monisha and Rekha shared how Philips HR is coming up with “Philips new Internship program for Women leaders”. They also shared an insight on “Back in the Game” initiative for women. This initiative is for all those women who take sabbatical break but want to be back in action later.
Rekha herself took two to three breaks in her successful journey and today she is working with Philips HR. She explained to the Sheroes as to how diversity in an organization is important with the help of a video.
Prashant Bhaskar was a funny man indeed. He made the audience laugh by saying that he feared all his female counterparts during school days. He added that their organization values mind and not the time. One needs to enjoy while they work on their passions. Furthermore, Prashant stressed on the idea of how strength comes from overcoming the things you once thought you cannot do.
Dushyant mentioned that in this age when the whole world is turning digital with 50 million computers, 500 million mobile phones, one should go beyond websites. Make mobile apps or mobile based websites. He added the fact that how easy it is to shop online rather than waiting and looking for a parking space. He said, “Paytm is a perfect example to show that a website is not necessary for e commerce, instead mobile website is the need of hour.”
While talking about the women in his life, he said that Women are angels and even if someone breaks their wings they continue to fly on broomstick.
The summit ends with great motivation for all the sheroes present and with smiles on our faces when we saw this :
