My August was filled with visiting the most beautiful and serene part of Mumbai, which Marine Drive. Many upcoming actor, photographers, bloggers, fashion stylist, local labourers, healthy people, love stroke couples, etc walk on the marine drive or sit for hours contemplating their next move. I was there to experience along with 10 selected bloggers from Mumbai for lovely sit down lunch with Chef Huang Tesing and to also cook dim sum with him. It was #DimsumatMarinePlaza event in Bay View section which overlooks elusive Marine Drive organized by Hotel Marine Plaza. One of the luxury restaurant of Hotel Marine Plaza, Oriental Blossom serves authentic Chinese restaurant. Hotel Marine Plaza is a Premium Luxury Hotel that adheres to international standards of hospitality. Overlooking the Arabian sea and queens necklace, this place is chic, opoluent and fashionable.
Oriental Blossom Review
As Chinese eating is meant to be private with family, Oriental Blossom has a very own style of group tables and dinners for private dining. It is undoubtedly announced as one of the finest Chinese restaurant in Mumbai.
Master Chef Huang Tesing, was introduced to Chinese Cuisine by his very renowned father. He creates an authentic style with tickling contemporary taste buds. His knowledge of Chinese cuisine from two prolific regions in China, namely Szechwan and Cantonese is what is evident in Oriental Blossom. He has been running the restaurant from 1996 which is like 15 years at the restaurant. Ufff Quite some years I must say!
The restaurant was very warm and had mix of brown, orange and white texture across. Each section was divided in Chinese style. Lovely colourful vases with Chinese letters embarked the division. To overlook the serene monsoon time at Marine Drive there were large wide glass windows. The interior was very bright and had an earthy feeling. It has a very elegant atmosphere for the discerning connoisseur.
It was a lovely spread where each blogger enjoyed the very cozy sit down lunch. I felt like I should haven’t had some pre meals before a day as Chef Huang Tesing personally had prepared this special menu derived for the special day. The menu was a mix of signature dishes and new make as well. Along with me, all the bloggers rejoiced veg and non-veg option. Being a vegetarian, I must admit that quite a lot of them drooled on veg dishes more. Sharing below the menu served.

CRISPY DATE PAN CAKE / TOFFEE BANANA WITH VANILLA ICE CREAM
Something which I rejoiced was that, when you are at a sit-down table, usually asking for the food bowl might get little embarrassing. But these turn tables where the food was laid was really a guest cracker. I enjoyed twirling the table as per the food requirement we had. To start with eight treasure vegetable nest was interesting. The favours of steamed and stir fried vegetables along with crisp nest was a great combination. Not a very aubergine fan, but the sauce was nice and tangy. Never have I tried Jade rolls, but this seems to me more like Gujarati Khandvi. The most refreshing item was vegetable chimney soup which was clear, light and little tangy. Heard from other bloggers that pork ribs in barbecue sauce were apt in tingling the taste buds. An interesting mix was chicken wrapped prawns in schezwan sauce. It was crisp and spicy at the same time. My favorite in veg dishes was stir fired water chestnuts in red & green bell pepper, baby corn & snow peas in chili sauce. The flavour of water chestnuts was strong enough to subdue the sauce. Wok grilled stuffed aubergine in Cantonese sauces was something I never thought I would enjoy being a person who hates aubergine. The end of the meal, dessert is my favourite part. I rejoiced the date pan cake with banana vanilla ice-cream. As it is an acquired taste few of them didn’t enjoy it. But I must say a great crispy filling with ice-cream I enjoyed it.
Do book your table during weekends as I saw a great amount of guest waiting. Try signature dishes by Chef and do meet the ever smiling chef. Oriental Blossom is a great restaurant to mark itself as lavish and fashion dining restaurant for Chinese in Mumbai. A very warm service is to match the ambiance as well.
