An elegant, and compact smartphone – Nubia Z11 MiniS – recently launched in India and you must have seen some of its sneak peeks in my social media during my trip to Goa. A quick two-day Goa trip with the new Nubia Z11 MiniS seemed perfect to test this smartphone. Nubia – a global smartphone maker is probably unheard by many just like me but now it is making its way to everyone’s list when they are buying. As a traveler, one of the main gadgets I always use is a mobile phone as it serves the purpose of security; a quick photo capturing device and a good battery life to keep me entertained while traveling solo. Now, the smartphone is leading its way in camera phones and it is specifically tailored to meet the modern user’s requirement, a statement by Dheeraj Kukreja, Marketing Director, Nubia India. Keeping my travel experiments in mind during the trip, here is my review of Nubia Z11 MiniS as an apt mobile device while traveling, where the emphasis is more on its mobile camera.

Nubia Z11 MiniS Design, Performance & Battery Review
If you are a traveler, you know the meaning of the word ‘Pack light’. So, I always like the word sleek, compact and yet stylish. Nubia Z11 MiniS has sleek metal unibody with the thickness of just 7.6mm which makes the phone stylish; it is lightweight and easy to use and the matte finish of the rear also helps to hold the phone comfortably. One thing I like the most is that I can use the phone with just one hand because of the compact size and seamless metal back.
The chipset of the phone is paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 256GB using the second SIM slot. I need more storage space with the number of photos and videos I take. With the kind of apps, I download I could navigate very quickly amongst them and extremely fast through mini-launcher.
Now, the important part of the smartphone is its battery life because if the battery keeps dying then your travel becomes difficult as you cannot use the phone when required. During the two- day Goa trip, I charged the phone just twice while all the time I was taking videos and pictures, making phone calls and using apps. The Nubia Z11 Minis has 3000mah battery which performed well.
Other Cool features of Nubia Z11 MiniS
With 5.2 inch full –HD display on the Nubia Z11 MiniS and good brightness level of 450 nit makes the switching on of the phone more measurable. I was pretty or rather super impressed when I started the phone first time, it says ‘Be Yourself’ and a collage of photos appears. Honestly, I immediately had a smile on my face, when I started the phone.
The multi-functional fingerprint recognition makes me feel super high-tech as I can start clicking pictures just by touching the sensor. I enjoyed using it for fingerprint unlock, screenshot and photo. As I have mentioned before I can use the phone by just one hand whereas, when I use my Samsung S7 Edge, I have to touch the screen button or the side button to take the photo. The position of the sensor is apt as I hold the phone right there.
Camera Review of Nubia Z11MiniS
I can easily say that I always judge the phone by its camera, for the shutterbug in me it becomes the important deciding factor while buying. Today I am going to show you all the amazing photographs I took with this snappy and feature-packed smartphone Nubia Z11 MiniS while I used it as a replacement for my DSLR. However, some photos of the smartphone have been taken by my DSLR to show the external features of the phone. Capturing pictures on the go, especially during a road trip or a quick trip adds up to memories from the trip. In fact, Nubia brand website leaves you amazed with a traveling video where the emphasis is on using the smartphone’s camera & video features to its utmost capacity.
The Z11 MiniS has quite a few fun things to play with in the shooting mode like panorama, slow shutter, manual(pro), time-lapse, multi-exposure, star track, light painting, trajectory, clone, macro camera and lots more.
The biggest highlight of the phone is its rear camera which has 23 megapixels with 6p sapphire lens- Sony IMX318 sensor so it takes a photograph with clear details and because of f/2.0 aperture, it takes sharper details even in low light. Auto-Focus is quick, be it low light or direct light because of 0.1s Hybrid focus and thanks to PDAF.
One thing I noticed that it captures the contrast in bright outdoors beautifully and the colors are very vivid. Even at night, the pictures come out colors great details and bright.
The video quality has some good stuff including satisfactory 4K video and 1080p video at 60 fps which is impressive considering this smartphone’s price.
Oh, and now the world is all about “selfies” and that is another important aspect of any phone, especially when I am travelling solo, I like to take my own photos rather than asking someone else to take. The front camera click beautiful selfies with a great depth of field and your face doesn’t look very patchy or pasty. The selfie camera is an impressive 13-megapixel one, built with the SONY IMX258 Exmor RS sensor has 5-piece lens and 80-degree wide angle.
It is very clear and evident that Nubia Z11 Minis gives sharper, clearer, a better skin tone with the selfie camera. So, Nubia Z11 MiniS makes me look cuter, doesn’t it? 😉 Oh, btw I am not afraid of chipped nail polish pictures as it talks about my love for water in Goa as swimming chips the polish.
The Nubia Z11 MiniS is a great smartphone with perfect hardware and there is no complain about the price of INR 16,999 as it offers more than its competition set. If you are a traveler like me then you should consider adding this to your sets of phone list to buy. The camera and design make it perfect for your road trips.
So, did you like the phone? Would you go for it? Hope you enjoyed my quick travel photography review of Nubia Z11 MiniS.
