Winter in Shillong
This was his last year’s collection.
Inspired by the wintertime in Shillong, the chill in the weather, the picturesque mountainside and the love of the local people for staying fashionable, Daniel Syiem presents his latest winter collection, Ka Tlang at Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013. His signature style of simplicity, love of nature and a deep-rooted pride in tradition is apparent in his collection. He focuses on rich earthy tones and unique natural color dyes. He comes up with classy and sophisticated coats and jackets here. His collection stands out due to his unique use of checks, collar and sleeve detailing and innovative designs. Using natural hand-woven fabrics, this collection is all about interesting coats and jackets, sophisticated skirts, beautiful and classy shift dresses, clean-cut long dresses, fitted sarongs and lots more. He has used a thicker version of the versatile fabric, Ryndia called Thoh Rew Stem and a traditional check fabric called Tapmohkhlieh indigenous to Meghalaya. With least use of fasteners and a completely natural, chemical free fabric, Daniel’s collection uses international styling to create outfits that cast a spell on you.
The collection was very cozy and regular wear. Especially the mix of browns, cream and white would suit completely in the higher side of India.
