Now after reading this, Iam sure you must be thinking why dun I also visit one of these spectacular restaurants to savour our tastebuds with one of those wines and chef driven special food.
So we were invited for Ellipsis , Colaba, Mumbai for the opening for “Wine Week”. Ellipsis restaurant is a gastro-inspired Modern American dining concept, offering small plate items meant for sharing. For this review, I also invited Arindam Basu, who call himself a wine and specialized cuisine aficionado.
And his story goes like
” It was afternoon when I got a message from a friend asking profoundly if I am coming with her for this “Wine Tasting Session” with food hosted at Ellipses by All Things Nice. Wasn’t sure I said reluctantly, “I have a meeting and would get over little late”, only to my surprise to know it would start late. Having no choice, I drove 30 KMs on a Tuesday Night to get an acquaintance to this culture. Stepping into this old heritage building situated in Colaba, the first introduction of me was with Nikhil, a warm hearted, generous, full of life and social person. Warmly being greeted I came to know he is the one who manages All Things Nice. Soon I could see the place was covering up with lot of known and unknown faces. I am not a good inhibiter for sparkling wine and it was very generous on his part to serve me a Red Sette, which was for the later part of the session. Travelling around the world and having inclination towards wine always fascinated me but having dictated in such a fine way was definitely worth the effort of driving to Ellipses. Nikhil was very well informed on what he was persuading about the wine in India and how you should enjoy your wine. We soon followed him to the place where the palate was organized. The menu card was placed for everyone, and I must say a very well thought menu to suit everyone’s taste. It had the complete blend of understanding on what goes on with what combination. Every item in the menu was very artistically presented and served with right combination of wine. I must say Chef Kelvin (Executive chef of Ellipses) did put lot of his effort for this session and if not I am going frequently to enhance my taste buds ?. What I liked personally is, every taste had both the international and national side which gives a feeling that Indians are locally indulging in the whole journey of wine making and enjoying. All Things Nice have really taken a nice initiative to make people know their drink and in style.
Here is the menu we all drooled on
Credit surely goes to Nikhil Agarwal.
My favourite out of the session was amuse bouche, Soup and Samich (a blend of carrot with cheese having a flavour of vanilla), Lamb with polenta with the side if Langhorne creek from Australia and to end with veloute as dessert which was perfectly made with cinnamon cookie over dark chocolate and ice-cream.
Credit surely goes to Chef Kevin and ofcourse all the effort that was taken by “ All Things Nice”
Overall it was a nice evening and worth the time being spent. Would surely look forward on more of such events #AllThingsNice, #Ellipses, #NikhilAgarwal, #ChefKelvinCheung . “
