Let me first introduce you to #NaviMumbaiFoodies. Couple of food aficionados thought of reviewing new & upcoming restaurants in NaviMumbai. This would be my third review with them . Previously I reviewed Cafe Monza, Kharghar and then RockVille Deli, Vashi .
So on 13th March, we decided to check out 80days -World Cuisine at Global Culture, in Sanpada, Navi Mumbai. Now you are wondering “why there is World Cuisine” written in the above line ? Right ! Ideally they have 4 different entities – 80 Days World Cuisine – where they have used the concept of “Around the world in 80 days” , The Malts an extensive menu of bar, Masala Table serving Indian Cuisine and Pan Pan serving flavours of the East from Chinese, Thai, Mongolian, etc
Global Culture- They treat food as an art, something that has life and soul.It is place where gastronomical delights are exposed to a foodie to taste the true essence of authentic cuisines.
What is 80 days like ?
Well very thought restaurant, which indicates the idea behind “Around the world in 80 days “ . Very well-balanced ambience, where seats have been covered with country flags, various walls painted with travel graffiti, mostly chestwood used across the restaurant. Quite a symbol is the ship on the wall which is illuminated to stand out in the decor area. They have low head lamps which focuses only on the food being served on the table. They have glass window-look through kitchen as well, which makes it interesting for the kids to watch live cooking.
They bring cuisines from all over the world. Trotting with a selection of specialized dishes from France, Italy, Spain, Germany, and even touches of flavour from Central Europe spanning from the Swiss mountains to Liechtenstein.
A very sought place for family and weekend dinners with friends, or even kitty party by women. The place gets full around 9pm , however since we were reviewing we decided to walk early in the place.
This was quiet a kicker as appetizers ,Provençal dish where finely chopped olives, capers, anchovies and olive oil was topped on slice of husk. This is popular dish from the South of France.
This was amazing. The mushroom and cream were mixed in great way to give you a very creamy mushroom feeling.
This was a very filling meal ,as all dishes which comes from Lebanon . The platter consisted of Hummus , Baba Ganoush, Tabbouleh, Falafel & Warm Pita. Ideally hummus could have been richer in taste , as this was very much Indianized. Falafel was well cooked and the flavour of fana beans was kept intact.
These became the favorite on the table. We immediately popped them , as they even are called poppers. Very well crispy fried nuggets where the cheese melted , the filling was jalapeno with sun-dried tomato aioli.
This was grilled Lamb Pattie stuffed in ,brioche buns and sides where cucumber raita and julienne cuts of fresh vegetables.
Beverages-Something to cool in this weather!
We order variety of mix from cocktails to mocktails . Started with Port No. 7 a Bourbon Whisky based Cocktail which ideally was the “Drink of the Day for us” , Green Apple & Hazelnut Martini with hint of cream-Didnt quite enjoyed this, Virgin Green Apple Mojito , Strawberry Ice Tea -this was a pure girl drink where Arti truly enjoyed it and Mango & Plum smoothie.
Being a vegetarian, I could only talk about vegetarian dishes I tasted. But what my non-vegetarian foodies mentioned that some of the dishes were good to try. However , I have mentioned the dishes we had ordered.
BBQ Chicken Pizza
Smoked Chicken topped with house BBQ Sauce, red onions, smoked cheese, mozzarela, coriander. Non-veg foodies described it as the pizza didn’t have much masala to it.
Risotto being my all time favorite, I had to try this . However, was quite disappointed with the texture as I usually like the perfect dry version of it. Farm Fresh Vegetables are the key part of this dish.It is a dish from North Italy. However, the Chef mentioned that they usually serve the guest with more sauce as they enjoy the same.
Marinated chicken breast, parmesan , panko crumb , olive tapenade, Salmoriglio and served with side salad.
Creole Cottage Cheese
Very well maintained cheese, which didn’t feel rubbery against the mouth. Corn on the Cob and fresh zucchini is something I indulged in for long.
This was definitely death by chocolate. Not very sweet and not very chocolaty was the apt thing I can say for this.
Baked New York Cheese Cake
While I took this parcel to home as though while watching the movie I would eat it.However, my family loved the Cheesecake which was an original Philadelphia cream cheese & seasonal compote.
As the hotel GM informed that the desserts were outsourced.
A must go with family to try soups, starters, and some of the main dish and not to forget the desert.. A big yes for drinks as well-being .For weekend this would be apt place to even sit out in the lawn area to chit chat.
Disclaimer: The meal at 80 days was on review. However, this has not influenced my review of the restaurant and its food.
